William F. Buckley died yesterday and of course for the next few days he will be the most perfect human being that ever lived. Of course, he was just another mammal like the rest of us; although much more productive than most of us. After reading from so many different people what a nice and gracious guy he was, it must be true, at least to some extent. He was borne with a lot of assets that had nothing to do with him; as they say none of us were asked if we wanted to be borne and to who. Some would say that he was borne with a silver spoon in his mouth. That is a saying that usually comes from the Looney left. It wasn’t his fault that he had that all going for him; but it was his fault what he did with what he was given. To some extent people who won the birthright lottery maybe should be held to a higher standard of achievement; and that does not only go for white males. OMG that brings up the realization of the assault of the ‘white male’ in this country today but that is food for thought for another entry; Back to Bill. He was Catholic, a very devote Catholic. I think I read somewhere that he was into the Trinatrine Mass; being conservative I suppose that makes sense. I’m a Catholic but a fallen away one, I should say agnostic. It probably better to put it that I am still a Catholic but am agnostic about God, Jesus; if that is possible. I’m sure it isn’t in the church but I am talking about myself, my inner feelings. Whenever the subject comes up I readily admit that I am of that persuasion. I go to mass, I watch mass on the Catholic Channel, I download a lot of Catholic podcasts and pray at times; not for myself but for others or things. I’m sure Bill is a real Catholic, a legally practicing one. I kind of long for the trinatrine mass myself.
